Vernon County Jane Doe (1984)

Vernon County Jane Doe On May 4th, 1984, at 23:15, 3 teenagers found the recently deceased body of a woman near the town of Westby, Winsconsin. She was estimated to have died within the last 24 to 48 hours. In reason of the extensive damage to her head, she was not recognizable until after mortuary procedures had been performed on her.  After the discovery was reported on by the news, a couple called in a tip concerning a strange man that was seen near the location the woman was found. They stated that he was returning to the driver's side of a 1982 yellow Datsun. When police officers went to the spot they could see tire marks left by a hasty u-turn. They also found a man's watch, broken denture and blood. With this evidence law enforcement thought she had been killed along the road and her body dumped where she was found.
